New Skills for the Future Trainees

Posted by in Education & Outreach, General Collections

We are the next round of Skills for the Future trainees to pass through RCAHMS doors. Over the next year the seven of us will complete a year-long work placement, mainly based within RCAHMS, but also working with Historic Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and several local authorities. There were over 300 applicants for these coveted posts, which will concentrate on cataloguing, digitising and communicating the collections held by RCAHMS, and provide the trainees with valuable skills to enable us to gain employment in the heritage sector in the future. Four of us are based within Collections (Nora Edwards, Joe McAllister, Ruth Mcdonald and Jen White) and three within Education and Outreach (John Baxter, Julia Branch and Mira Knoche). Since starting in February we have been finding our feet within RCAHMS and finding out about the work of RCAHMS and the collections it holds.

Over the next few weeks we will introduce each of us through our blog and keep you up-to-date with the work we are doing. You can also follow our Twitter feed @SkillsRCAHMS.
